Nest Jewelry Designer Profile

We love Nest Jewelry over in The Shak!

It’s the perfect “go-to” line that can help add a little fun to any outfit. Sisters, Janette Wilkinson and Jana Erwin are the designers behind the Dallas-based company.

Janette and Jana grew up in Oklahoma where they developed a love for creating their own fabrics and making their own jewelry. Staying true to these skills practiced at an early age, Nest Jewelry prospers through “repurposing,” a passion taught to the girls by their grandmother and consisting of “taking something old and giving it new life.”

Jana says, “I can honestly say I am not inspired by any certain thing.  It is actually more of an aesthetic that just seems to live inside me.”

Janette says, “I am obsessed with natural, organic materials in every aspect of my life. To take these materials and juxtapose the natural elegance with a super sleek contemporary design I just think is really cool; they won’t go out of fashion and are still on trend.”

“Here in Dallas, we love being at Stanley Korshak – that’s our store and our focus,” says Wilkinson.

At the end of the day, however, Wilkinson and Erwin are inspired and motivated by their customers.

Erwin says, “When I see someone wearing our pieces, and it makes them feel great, it motivates me to keep doing what I am doing.  If ever I get in a rut for wondering why I do this I realize I need to get of my office and go see the customers.  The stories they tell me of how our jewelry makes them feel beautiful, powerful, sexy, bold…. it just never gets old.  Who knew jewelry could change someone’s life, but I hear it over and over again.  It is really gratifying.”

Korshak Q&A with Stephanie Curtis

Meet jewelry designer Stephanie Curtis of LoLo Jewels. Stephanie began her career in 2003 while living in LA. Although she started by modernizing vintage jewelry pieces for herself, her line quickly grew to a distribution of over 150 stores worldwide. Stephanie has since moved to Big D and has become a familiar (and favorite) face at The Shak.

Want to meet Stephanie in person? Stop by The Shak tomorrow (10/5) between 4-7pm for our Rock Stars trunk show!

Meet The Designer

We are pleased to welcome Atelier Minyon designer, Alp Sagnak, to Stanley Korshak!

“As a man, I think masculine jewelry on a woman makes her look sexy,” says Alp Sagnak, designer of Atelier Minyon.

From mermaids and spiders, to skulls and weapons, to the world’s most poisonous flowers, Alp combines the finest of detail with the most exquisite stones to elevate the role of wickedly expressive jewels to luxury. Alp’s artisanship and passion for making beautiful objects, easily transforms ‘grim’ into sexy, strong pieces that give women more confidence just by wearing them.

                               Alp Sagnak and Melissa Geiser

Melissa Geiser, fine jewelry buyer for Stanley Korshak, wanted something more feminine from the designer. With that, Alp introduced his Most Poisonous Flower Collection (inspired by SK!). Themed in 18K yellow gold and oxidized silver, the collection includes: the Oleander, the Belladonna, the Autumn Crocus, the Angel’s Trumpet and more.

“Every woman has two egos,” says Alp. “A naive side and a wild side. The yellows represent naivety and black represents the wild side.”

Each special piece in his collection has been handcrafted and designed with an edgy twist that has allowed him to appeal to both sides of a woman. Alp Sagnak will be here through tomorrow afternoon, so come by and meet the designer!

Korshak Q&A with Amanda Sterett

We love Amanda Sterett here at The Shak at Stanley Korshak. Amanda is a local designer who knows what Texas ladies like to wear! I also had the pleasure of getting to know Amanda better through SMU Fashion Week this Spring, where we served on the same panel.

Now it’s your turn to meet this fabulous designer, known for her wire-wrapping technique. Once you watch the video, you’ll understand why Amanda Sterett was named “Best Jewelry Designer” in Dallas by D Magazine in 2010 and 2011!

Atelier Minyon

Today we are spotlighting a new jewelry collection for Stanley Korshak, the delightfully wild Atelier Minyon!

The designer, Alp Sagnak, is the heart and soul of Atelier Minyon. He grew up in a Turkish family of jewelers, following the family tradition, while taking it to a new level by moving to New York and designing cutting edge fine jewelry.

Alp Sagnak uses the highest quality materials while taking a personal and sometimes humorous approach to design. Some collections reference his rich heritage, and others are edgy and modern and betray his love for rock music, gothic styles, and dark art. What binds them together is the beautiful and masterly way they are made, using traditions passed down throughout the generations.

I think this promotional video fusing jewelry with rock music says it all…rock on Atelier Minyon!
